As a child, Haruka struggled with her emotions, including having difficulty smiling, even while happy.
One day, while at the mall, and idol invited her up on stage to dance, causing her to finally smile.
Haruka realized then she wanted to become an idol, after learning the girl was filled with hope when
Haruka smiled, and she wanted to continue to spread hope to others.
A few years later, Haruka had become
a member of the idol group ASRUN, being the most popular. She was very close to another groupmate, Mai.
After overworking herself, Mai injured her vocal cords, and was told she could no longer sing. Mai,
overwhelmed with distress, takes it out on Haruka, leading her to believe Mai's injury is her fault,
and concludes that she is no longer fit to be an idol. She retires from her group, and returns to
school.
One day, Haruka encounters a girl named Minori on the roof, who she finds dancing, albeit badly.
Minori is starstruck, and the two become acquainted. Minori reveals she had been a huge fan of Haruka,
and had been practicing and auditioning for years to become an idol after being inspired by seeing
a young Haruka on TV. Minori is sad about Haruka's departure from idol buisness, but accepts her
decision.
After learning Haruka misses seeing the glowsticks in the crowd light up blue like the sea
for her, Minori decides to help her see it one last time, and enlists the help of other former
idols Airi and Shizuku. Through the use of their
SEKAI, Haruka is able to witness the
sea of bright blue lights, and it overwhelms her. She rekindles her relationship with Mai, who encourages
her to return to being an idol, and she agrees. With Minori, Airi, and Shizuku,
Haruka forms More More Jump.
There's quite a few reasons why I was drawn specifically towards Haruka, I think.
Okay so.. for starters she's SO PRETTY. Like, unbelievably pretty. AND!! I adore her voice!
Even the fanwiki describes it as "cool and warm" which is totally contradictory but I agree with
it anyway xD. She's very charismatic and kind, and she likes... PENGUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW CUTE IS THAT!? (i have added many penguins to this page in her honor)
I think she embodies the power of autism. I know some people may think that's like, an insult or something.
But it really isn't!! I am autistic myself (surprising, right!?!?!?!) and there's a lot of little quirks
about her to lead me to believe this. Before I start, obviously autism is a huge spectrum and range. Not
everyone with autism acts like this, and not everyone who acts like this has autism. These are just my personal
thoughts, and I want to express them. and shes my girlfriend so im right obviously.
OK ANYWAY:
First of all, I would like to point out Haruka's strict routine following. She's mentioned to repeat certain
actions at the same time every day, i.e. her morning jog. Idols are inherently meant to follow routines
anyway, and perhaps these strict routines bring comfort to her. She's shown to have a fixation on penguins,
a special interest maybe? Her room is completely covered in penguin-themed merchandise, and becomes visibly
excited when they are brought up. She talks about them constantly, and knows a whole variety of facts, which
she is eager to share. Haruka's issues with expressing emotion as a child could also be linked to autism,
with her now seemingly "perfect" emotions simply just masking, as she has trouble showing her sadness.
apologies if that made little sense. im having a normal one
